Well it has been a while so we thought we better start up on the blog again and share some news with you..... we are expecting our first little baby!

We are very excited and are expecting our little 'Peanut' in mid January 2009.

All is well and Jo has been very well, other than a few tired days here and there, no complaints!

We are now working to get the house ready with a nursery etc...and trying to get the cats used to the idea that we will soon have another new arrival.

We also have a new addition.....

Sold our old house

Purchased and moved into a great big new home

Been travelling with work around both Australia and New Zealand

We are both very happy at the moment and things are going REALLY well for us....

We will try and keep the blog updated a little more frequently now.

Hasn't time just flown by..... in the last three months our beautiful baby neice has gone from this....

And has now grown into a happy, healthy and very chatty three month old young lady!

Bec and Brad have been wonderful new parents and Dan and I thank you for allowing us our cuddles and play time with Maddison. She is a beautiful baby and we know that you all make a wonderful family!

This weekend we were invited to a drinking night with some of Dan's work friends.

It was a great night where again we partook in several of our favourite shots

Illusions..................Cowboys..............Mudslides.............QF............Tolberone and then had some 'weird' and 'wonderful' shots too.

It was a great night and thanks to Michelle for being a wonderful host.

Feisty's Tank

We have spent this weekend getting Fiesty's home all set up and looking like his natural home would.

After lots of research we purchased a heat pad and also some sand and gravel and then put in some water bowls and also left his favourite logs to sleep in and explore too.

He was very excited with his new home and looked around all of the tank and walked from one side to the other exploring! It was great to watch - he then settled in a log and found a nice warm place and went to sleep.

We are really glad that Fiesty is so comfortable in his new home - although we know that he still likes to come out and play with us too!

Last night saw Andy, Kirst, Dan and I head out to see the taping of 'Thank God You're Here' at the channel 10 studios!

It was a great night, after a few drinks when we got there we were taken through to the studio and it was exactly like it looked on TV. We then were given great seats - a few rows from the back and then the taping got into full swing!

We cant tell you who we saw but the episode that we saw will be on TV on the Week of the 23rd July so say tuned for that one.

It was a great night and we hope that we can get some more tickets so we can go again.

His name is Feisty and he is a three month old baby Blue Tounge Lizard.

Astro, Growler and Mischief have each had different reactions towards this new addition - Mischief spent most of the night just watching him, as seen in the photo below!

We are pleased to announce that today we became Uncle Dan and Aunty Jo when Bec and Brad introduced us to our new neice Maddison...

She was born at 11.27am on Monday 4th June and weighed 8 pounds 7 ounces.

Beating Like a Drum, was the track which Eskimo Joe opened their concert with on Friday night and what a concert it was! The energy in the Palais Theatre was awesome and our seats, front row on the second level made for a great vantage point and a great spot to take some photos.....

Nine Inch Nails Concert Review - Metro 14th May 2007

Its hard to begin with my review of the concert last night. It was defiintely one full of energy and the first concert I have ever been to where I knew every word of every song. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it is my favourite concert to date. The energy was incredible. As soon as the unfortunate support act had been cleared off the stage the excitment level grew steadily until the band started out with the awesome building sound of 'Hyperpower!'.

The song selection was incredible, jumping from the new cd, back though their entire catalogue, even including some great hits off sound tracks like 'Dead Souls' from "The Crow", and 'Burn' from "Natural Born Killers". It really blended together into a perfect mix. Violent high energy tunes switching to emotional masterpieces changing to instrumental mastery and then into industrial techno.

Trent showed his skills, moving from Guitar, to keyboard, to synthersiser, then back to guitar and really putting in a stellar and emotional performance. From what I've read and Trents own comments on the night, the Sunday evening show was terrible and he and the band really made up for it last night. Trent said "Finally a good f**king show. I was beginning to think we were cursed. Last night I was ready to give up and take up gardening."

I have to say that I went in a little apprehensive as our last visit to the Metro to see Living Colour was memorable as being both a good performance, but one with a pretty bad crowd and average sound. However, the people in the place last night were real fans. No idiots or pushy fools to ruin everyone's night.

The sound was spot on, all levels perfect, with the music and Trent's singing never washing each other out. The stage was set up with some spectacular smoke and lighting gear that was timed perfectly to the songs and really helped set the mood and vibe of each song on fire. From the soft purple glow surrounding the band during the only soft song of the night 'Something I Can Never Have', to the strobe and hot yellow lighting of 'The Hand That Feeds' it was a real showcase. It was also during 'The Hand That Feeds' that Jo really fired up and got her dance thing going in a big way!

We were in a perfect spot to catch all the action too. Dead centre, second level just in front of the glass. Only one person in front of us, and she was both a hotty and a true fan so I can forgive her for occasionally blocking our view. One hour and forty minutes of perfect concert.

The final song of the night was a personal highlight: the entire crowd - all three packed levels - singing and clapping along with the band - shaking the very walls and floor of the Metro! By the end of 'Head Like A Hole' I was sure that I would have lost my voice.

There is no doubt that the next time Trent Reznor brings Nine Inch Nails to town, Jo and I will be there.

All said and done, it was truly a better night just for the fact that we both enjoyed it equally. This was something we both mentioned while we walked around the city talking about it after the concert. Usually, at any given event, one person has a better night than the other. Last night we were both in rapture.

Mothers Day Celebrations

Sunday was Mothers Day and this year we celebrated with the Talbot family at Churchill Park for a BBQ lunch.

It was a beautiful day in a beautiful spot with great food and great company.

Bec's Baby Shower

We had the pleasure on Sunday to help Bec celebrate the impending arrival of bub Wilkin with a Baby Shower held at Julie and Peter's house.

It was a great afternoon with 30 guests and 5 babies, family and friends all joining Bec to play games, have a chat and some yummy afternoon tea and watch Bec open all her presents (there was lots of oooohhh, and ahhhhh and how cute is that being said around the room.!)

Bec was the beaming mother to be... and in only 4 ish weeks we will be able to introduce the new baby Wilkin to you.

Well here it is... there hasn't been regular weigh in updates for me in the past few weeks so here we go.

Stepped onto the scales this morning and I now weigh.......

98.8 kilos! That's a loss of 15.9 to date.

WOOHOO I am under the 100 kilos now!

Feeling great and lots of people have noticed the change too.

Walking the 1000 steps....

With Anzac day just around the corner, Dan and I thought that it would be great to walk the 1000 steps at the Ferntree Gully National Park.

This has been something that we have been talking about for a long time, but never have the time to do it!

Well it was a very hard walk - and for all those who have done this before you know what I mean - just the walk from the car park to the bottom of the steps is enough to take it all out of you.

Dan and I could not have done this before loosing the weight and we hope that we will be able to make this a regular thing.

Post Easter Weigh In

Well we have just had a four day weekend, filled with lots of eating, socialising and of course a few Easter Eggs here and there.

Dan and I went for a 2 hour walk yesterday at Churchill park and this was one of the hardest walks that we have done in a very long time. We walked to a lookout at the highest point of the park (and the longest and steepest hill to get there).

This morning I stepped on the scales and saw something that I had been waiting for....

The scales said 100 kilos!

Yeah - this week I have lost 1.4 kilos as I am so so so close to getting under the 100. Hopefully this will happen next week.

I know I only weighed in yesterday, but I need to keep up with this Monday morning tradition so I again weighed in this morning and from last week to this week I have lost 2 KILOS!

After the lack of weight loss in the past few weeks this was a welcome relief!

APRIL FOOLS......

Well we are now offically 3 months into our healthy lifestyle change and we had a weigh in to celebrate!

Here are the losses for the month:

Daniel Alan was 119.7 kilos now is 118.7 kilos - LOSS OF 1 KILO
Joanne Amanda was 104 kilos now is 101.3 kilos - LOSS OF 2.7 KILOS

This brings our total weight loss to

Daniel 14 Kilos

Joanne 13.4 Kilos

Our new aim now is to begin building muscle and really focussing on toning while still loosing the weight.

Today I weighed in and had some bad news.... for the first time in the almost 3 months that we have been on this healthy eating plan, I put weight on.

I gained 300 grams this week.....

Well can you believe that two months have flown by and we are at the time of the second weigh in!

Here's all the details of this months losses....

DANIEL ALAN: Lost 5.2 Total loss to date 13kgs
JOANNE AMANDA: Lost 3.7 Total loss to date 10.7 kgs

Wow so combined we have lost 23.7 kgs....

This month we hope to keep the losses happening and we have purchased a new exercise bike so we are excited about that!

Our motivation is still very high.

Again this morning weary from the walk yesterday and a full weekend, I stepped on the scales and recorded another loss.....

That's One Big Walk!

Dan had done some research during the week and found a walk that we could do, so we planned it for the weekend!

Well we left home at 10.45am and arrived back home at 3.15pm, with about 1.5 hours of this time breaking and the rest taking one big walk!

We estimated that we walked 15kms today - yes thats right FIFTEEN KILOMETERS!

We walked from home along the Dandenong Creek trail then to Waverley Gardens for some yummy hand rolls for lunch then to the Muirs for some afternoon tea....basically a well earned drink of water... and then we walked home.

We were very tired as you may imagine when we got home but felt great none the less for being able to accomplish such a huge walk!

Hopefully this will show when I step onto the scales tomorrow...

Week five and I'm feeling good.

Stepped on the scales this morning and I have lost 1.4kgs since last week (not the monthly weigh in).

One Month!

The month is over! Great results after the weigh in as follows:

Jo has lost 7kg

Dan has lost 7.8kg

Awesome stuff!

The measurements was an issue though. We couldn't remember exactly where we measured last time so we got some pretty crazy results. As such, we think we will leave the measurements until further notice.

With results this good, I hope that our motivation levels can stay as high as they have been. Now, excuse me while I continue patting myself on the back! :)

After the Australia Day long weekend it was again time to weigh in for me. Dan is counting the days till the monthly weigh in on Thursday but I had to do it today.... stepping on the scales revealed that i was 1 kilo lighter this week... WOOHOO!!!!

Thats a total of 6.7kgs..... YEAH BABY!

Well with a loss of 3.6kgs to date I was unsure of what could happen in this weeks weigh in. We had a few nights out this week which challenged me to choose the 'healthy' options over the Parma and chips that I love but it was all worth it as this week I stepped on the scales and had lost another 2.1 kilos!

Dan and I are feeling great and I can't wait to see how much Dan has lost when he steps onto the scales on February first.

Today we joined with the family to celebrate a very special occasion, the engagement of our brother and new sister, Kirsty & Andrew. This was a great, relaxed, fun afternoon with many friends and family. Kirsty looked amazing as did Andrew.

After a week of healthy eating and a sudden absence of the take away food that we know and love all to well, the first weigh in for Jo has been and gone. I am happy to say that it was an outstanding success. Great work Jo, I only hope that I have lost a similar amount.

Weight loss in week 1 = 1.5kg.

Whist this is a great result on paper, I can tell you without a word of a lie that we can already notice the difference in each other. This is proving great motivation and a happy talking point during our walks.

Well, we started our diet and life change on January 1st, 2007. There isn't much point of this blog if we don't list our start weights, so I guess here goes. *Sigh*.....

Jo - 114.7 kg

Dan - 132.7 kg

Scary isn't it. By chance, I checked out an American weight loss web site whilst doing some research for our diet and was horrified to note that my weight equated to just under 300 pounds. That is the stuff that nightmares are made of. Even though Jo and I had talked about all this before hand, I think it was the sight of my weight being close to 300 pounds that really put things into perspective. It was certainly a good motivation to help make the changes stick.

From this point foward Jo will be weighing in every week, I will weigh in on the first of each month. We will list our progress as soon after each weigh in as we can. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

For anyone visiting from overseas or outside the family, here's a brief introduction of the driving force behind the blog.

Jo and I have been married for two and a half years now, and set ourselves a new year's resolution of losing weight and increasing our fitness this year. We had both clocked in at our heaviest recorded weigh-in over the 2006 Christmas break and realised that it was high time for a change. With the chance of kids on the horizon, and the ever present threat of long term health problems looming, we decided that it was now or never.

To that end, we have set up this blog to record our progress (or lack there of) and also as a means of general communication between our family and friends.
